Sunflowers follow the light. It's why people plant them after a loss, and why they turn up so often in memorial gardens — a flower that keeps turning toward the sun seems to understand something about grief.
This pendant is worked in sterling silver, with slender petals radiating from a textured gold-tone center and a curved stem above it carrying two antiqued leaves. The flower holds a small portion of ashes, a lock of hair, or a few dried petals, sealed behind a screw closure where the stem meets the bloom. Nothing about it announces what it is.
At just over an inch and a half, it has real presence without being heavy, and it sits well on its own or layered with shorter chains
